My 1959 Chevy El Camino project by Carl Nocera

Welcome graphic

This car was purchased in Tonawanda NY in Oct. 2001. I was looking for a 1959 El Camino for about 8 years in my price range and restoration ability. Although some cars came up for sale they were junk (see examples on other pages) Then one day I was doing a search on e-bay and was finding nothing again, But there was a '59 Chevy truck (listed wrong) in there that had a couple hours left on the auction. I clicked on it and fell in love. There it was NO bids and it was not even far away it said located in Tonawanda NY!! What a '59 Elky in my home town ?? never! I would know if there was one indeed. Wrote the seller a e-mail (very fast) and he called me up, asked me if I knew where Tonawanda is and I told him YES I live in Tonawanda! We talked very briefly and when I asked him to let me know how I could see the car he gave me directions, Right around the corner from my house! I purchased the car and pushed it home with his Dad down the street and into my garage........This car was last on the road in 1990 and due to not being interested in it anymore and a wife (go figure) who wanted the $$$ she bugged him into selling it (Lucky me) so folks join with me back into my future.

Looking for donations to help finish the truck

Just a cool site related to my hometown.

National El Camino owners website link

I have been pouring money into the truck for 3 years and I'm getting very close to finishing it the correct way. No I'm not going to waste it on foolish things. This truck deserves to be running on the streets again. Just a dollar can help me collect much needed cash if all those who vist the site can donate it, don't forget paypal takes .30 cents so I'm just taking in less than 70 cents each donation so thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart. I will send each donor a photo for their collection of a very rare truck back on the streets. My goal is to have it totally restored by 2009. For it's 50th birthday !! So how about helping restore a American Icon. No car company will ever build such a vehicle again. Again I ask just a $1.00 for the restoration, No funds will spent on anything else.

2/5/07 To date just about $250.00 has been donated by many fans of the truck. Thanks again. So far I purchased a new weather seal kit and some new NOS trim that was needed.

this is a great example of how it may look
